Post-op Care

At Juanita Kids Dentistry, your child’s well-being is our top priority, and we want to ensure a smooth recovery after their dental procedure. Below are essential guidelines for post-operative care to help you navigate the healing process.

Post-Operative Care Instructions:

Recovery at Home:

After the procedure, create a calm and comfortable space at home for your child to rest. Limit their physical activity for the first 24 hours to facilitate a smooth recovery.

Pain Management:

Administer prescribed or over-the-counter pain medication as directed by our dental team. Ensure your child takes medications with a small amount of food or milk to avoid stomach upset.

Dietary Restrictions:

Stick to soft and cool foods initially. Avoid hot, spicy, and crunchy foods that may irritate the surgical site. Encourage plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.

Oral Hygiene:

Gently care for your child’s mouth. Encourage them to rinse with a warm saltwater solution to maintain cleanliness. Avoid vigorous brushing around the surgical site.

Swelling and Bruising:

Some degree of swelling or bruising is normal. Use a cold compress on the affected area for 15 minutes on, then 15 minutes off during the first 24 hours to help reduce swelling.

Bleeding Management:

Slight bleeding may occur post-surgery. If bleeding persists, place a clean gauze pad over the area and apply gentle pressure for 20 minutes. If bleeding continues, contact our office promptly.

If you have any questions or notice any unusual symptoms, do not hesitate to reach out to Juanita Kids Dentistry. We are committed to providing ongoing support and guidance for your child’s recovery.

Remember, every child’s recovery is unique. While these guidelines offer general advice, individual circumstances may vary. If you ever feel uncertain or have specific concerns, please contact our office. At Juanita Kids Dentistry, we are dedicated to the well-being and comfort of your child throughout their dental journey.
